Our son moved to Lancaster which is about an hour or so from the drive-in.We will definately make a trip out to see you this summer when we visit him Drive-ins are fast becoming a thing of the past..so whatever the price increase.it's worth it to experience this piece of history! Lets support our Drive-Ins so they don't disappear like so many have in the Pittsburgh area

I have never been to a drive in movie theater and didn't think that i would ever get a chance to go to one, since they have all pretty much been torn down. However, I found this place and I absolutely love it. My boyfriend of 3 years and I had a date night this past friday and we went to Shankwilers, It was absolutely amazing. Thank you!

You guys are seriously amazing people. It's quite a drive from where I live (about an hour), but it is worth it to grab a couple of close friends, pack up a nice cooler, bring the portable boombox, and watch two movies under the stars.

I can't wait to come back this season! I wish I had heard of Shankweiler's sooner, but now that I know of this hidden treasure, I will continue to spread the word and come again as soon as possible.

Long live Shankweiler's!

(And anyone who says your prices aren't affordable are off their rockers! Have they been to a movie in a normal cinema recently? Shankweiler's is essentially Buy One, Get One Free!)

Congratulations to the Shankweiler family and all the guests over the years. It's great to see the theater still going. We have 3 drive-ins locally and go to them a lot. It's a great way to enjoy a film and family. If we are in the area, we will definitely make time to see a movie at your historical drive-in. Have a great 2012 season.

Disappointed to see a second increase in prices again. At this rate it will stop being affordable for families. We usually come several times during a season (family of 6)..Sad to see this:

Reply: Not quite sure of what you are refering to as a "second increase in prices again".
We review our costs of doing business every day.
Even though we have had the usual increases in the cost of doing business, both film exhibition and concessions, we have not increased any prices since April 2010.
We must increase our Admission and some Concession prices just as the same as prices for just about every commodity have increased in the last two years.
Any increase in prices passed on to our customers are in response to the increased prices we need to pay to our suppliers.
One consideration that we must make is that we cannot and will not remain in business to not make a reasonable profit for all of our efforts.
Should the time come that we do not make a reasonable profit, then it is time to close up shop.

My wife and I enjoyed our first drive-in movie since E.T.was released.We came from southern NJ just to visit Shankweilers and were not disapointed, movie was clear,food was good, sound was great. Keep up the good work.

My daughter is 4 and she loves the drive in. Her first time was the end of the season last year. All winter she wanted to know when we could go back. So first chance we got this season we were there. We love you Shankweiler's don't ever change.
