I grew up in PA (41 now) and we always went to Shankweiler's. I saw Grease there. Saw Star Wars. Many more. A friend in an FB group just asked about drive in theaters and our experiences and I mentioned Shankweiler's and then I googled it, NEVER expecting it to still be there (I moved from PA many years ago) and was so happy to see that it is still open. It actually brought a tear to my nostalgic eye.

Our son moved to Lancaster which is about an hour or so from the drive-in.We will definately make a trip out to see you this summer when we visit him Drive-ins are fast becoming a thing of the past..so whatever the price increase.it's worth it to experience this piece of history! Lets support our Drive-Ins so they don't disappear like so many have in the Pittsburgh area

I have never been to a drive in movie theater and didn't think that i would ever get a chance to go to one, since they have all pretty much been torn down. However, I found this place and I absolutely love it. My boyfriend of 3 years and I had a date night this past friday and we went to Shankwilers, It was absolutely amazing. Thank you!

You guys are seriously amazing people. It's quite a drive from where I live (about an hour), but it is worth it to grab a couple of close friends, pack up a nice cooler, bring the portable boombox, and watch two movies under the stars.

I can't wait to come back this season! I wish I had heard of Shankweiler's sooner, but now that I know of this hidden treasure, I will continue to spread the word and come again as soon as possible.

Long live Shankweiler's!

(And anyone who says your prices aren't affordable are off their rockers! Have they been to a movie in a normal cinema recently? Shankweiler's is essentially Buy One, Get One Free!)
